Home At Last

When asked to participate in the feasibility study this past July determining the degree of support which could be anticipated from the eastern Connecticut community supporting a project of providing apartments for homeless military veterans CorePlus Federal Credit Union President and CEO Warren P. Scholl responded with an eager "Yes count me in" . Further, Scholl assured Campaign representatives that he felt certain the CorePlus Board of Directors would offer a substantial donation in support of the American Legion's efforts to enhance the lives of Veterans in need.

Scholl, U.S. Army Veteran himself has been a member of the American Legion for more than 38 years and also comes from a family of American Legion Members and supporters. Both Scholl's Father and Brother have long been active in their local American Legion Posts as well as in other Veteran's organizations.

"As a Vietnam era Veteran, a brother of a Veteran, a son of a World War II Veteran and as a citizen, I have always seen a need to supplement and support the service programs available to those who have served us all so well and Frankly, I'm not sure we can ever do enough."

The Check for $15,000.00 presented to TALVHI represents a pledge of support to the HOME AT LAST campaign. The LaFlamme-Kusek Post No. 15 of the American Legion ( the Post), doing business through The American Legion Veterans housing Inc. (TALVHI), is planning to restore and reuse its existing building in Jewett City creating 18 permanent supportive housing units to as well as a regional facility for homeless Veterans in Eastern Connecticut.

CorePlus Federal Credit Union is a federally chartered, member owned, not for profit cooperative following the motto of " not for profit, not for charity, but for service" and as such, the Board of Directors of CorePlus quickly recognized and acknowledged how very well this Veterans Project fits into the overall mission of the Credit Union. "Each Of us are very Proud to be a part of CorePlus' support for such a worthy endeavor on behalf of deserving veterans and we thank the members of the American Legion for their initiative and strong efforts on this project." said Scholl.
