Senior Financial Scams Seminar

Senior Financial Scam

CorePlus to Host “Senior Financial Scams” Seminars

Did you know that out-of-pocket costs associated with senior financial scams and exploitation are estimated at $2.9 billion a year? And that’s on the low side because many cases go unreported.

As the net worth of seniors increases, so does the likelihood they’ll be targeted by con artists trying to strip them of their life savings. Senior scams are on the rise, but with proper prevention and education, we can reverse that trend.

To increase your odds that you or a loved one—or someone in your care—can avoid becoming a victim of financial exploitation, you need to know the facts. Your professional friends at CorePlus Credit Union can help.

FREE informational session dates:

Senior Financial Scams

  • Thursday, January 11 – 12:00pm
New London Senior Center, 120 Broad Street, New London
  • Thursday, January 18 – 10:45am
Rose City Senior Center, 8 Mahan Drive, Norwich
  • Thursday, February 22 – 12:45pm
East Lyme Senior Center, 37 Society Road, Niantic
  • Tuesday, February 27 – 1:00pm
Lyme/OL Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Road, Old Lyme

All seminars are FREE and open to the public. At the seminar, you’ll find out how big the problem of financial exploitation is, who’s committing the crime, common examples of senior scams, how to recognize signs of abuse, what the long-term effects of exploitation are, how to prevent it, and where to go for help.

RSVP to [email protected], call Susan Dombrowski, Member Experience Liaison at 860-886-0576 x 3171 or stop by any CorePlus Credit Union branch to register. This event is FREE and open to the public.
